What's your musical horoscope? (Put your music player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.) Inspired by Stephanie.
I'm such a whore for questions about my music. Here we go...
1.) Rufus Wainwright - Damned Ladies. From his first album, and my favourite, too. It's about the famous women from various tragic operas. (Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I'm a RW addict.)
What this is telling me: I'm destined for something tragic? I shouldn't become the leading lady in an opera?
2. ) Jamiroquai - Feels Just Like it Should. The video is kind of freaky - it's like all the demons from "Angel" got together and started chasing Jay Kay down the street. There are numerous veiled references to drug addiction.
What this is telling me: While I'd like to be glib and say that it's telling me not to do drugs, I'd rather think that this is saying that everything is just as it should be right now, and I'm justified in feeling happy and contented.
3. ) Rufus Wainwright - Beauty Mark. Aww, how sweet. It's a song about his mother, Kate McGarrigle (who was half of the McGarrigle Sisters. If you remember the NFB animiated short "The Log-driver's Waltz," that was them singing.) (See #1.) (Oh, and I have more RW on my iPod than anyone else.)
What this is telling me: While I've never thought of myself as beautiful or even remotely pretty, there may be something about me that will appeal to someone. I just hope it's soon, 'cause I ain't gettin' any younger over here!
4.) Macy Gray - Sex-o-matic Venus Freak. It's all about being sexy. Woo.
What this is telling me: Obviously, something I'm don't even know about yet. See #3, and reinterating the "not gettin' any younger" bit.
5.) Beny More - Caricias Cubanas. A very smooth Latin American number.
What this is telling me: No idea. Maybe this means I'm going to get that cabana boy I've always wanted!
6.) Rinocerose (I can't do all the accent thingies!) - Cubicle (Eraserhead Mix). A song you can both disco and head-bang to.
What this is telling me: If it's telling me I'm going to work in a cubicle, I'd be happy. Right now, I work in a corner of a storage area where everyone works. There are no walls, so there are no private conversations. A cubicle would be a step up.
7.) Xavier Cugat & His Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra - Babalu. Everyone's heard (of) the Desi Arnez version of this song, but this one is more mellow and seductive. Rrrowr!
What this is telling me: Take those Spanish dancing lessons you saw the poster for!
8.) Gnarls Barkley - Crazy. Weird video. Insects and ink blots.
What this is telling me: Duh. It's obvious. I should avoid psychiatrists who rely on ink blot tests.
9.) Pavement - Cut Your Hair. This is a song I loved back in grade 9. It's so unfocused and slacker-ish, sort of like I was at the time.
What this is telling me: I need to get a hair cut. Yeah, yeah yeah - I know!
10.) Depeche Mode - Precious. Wow - these guys have been around forever! In the grand tradition of DM, it's slightly creepy and double-entendre-y.
What this is telling me: My precious.....
